Do you allow parents to visit the classroom?
Our school has an “Open Door Policy, which means you can come to visit any time. We encourage you to visit the classroom with your child for short periods of time if possible during the transition time into the new classroom. We have many special events that parents are encouraged to attend as well, for example, our Holiday Party in December, the Mother Goose Olympics, and of course our Parent/Teacher conferences throughout the year. Teachers also have phones in their rooms so you can call at any time, and of course you can view your child via the ParentWatch cameras at any time.
What about snacks and lunch at Bluebonnet School?
At Bluebonnet School we are very conscious that nutritious foods enhance the performance and good health of your child. Our food program emphasizes whole grains, fruits and vegetables, and a balanced selection from all food groups is served. Our menus reflect a minimum of sugary and/or processed foods. Children are provided a snack in the morning and in the afternoon in addition to their hot lunch. The price of meals is included in the tuition.
Because so many children have peanut allergies, we are a peanut-free environment. We serve a vegetarian menu to our vegetarian children. A special menu is served to older infants, toddlers and young twos to prevent any possibilities of choking hazards. Food is served family-style and the teachers eat with the children. This allows the teachers to role model proper table etiquette and teaches the children important self-help skills. We believe that learning to eat a variety of foods is as educational to children as the regular classroom curriculum.
What about discipline?
We primarily use redirection and positive reinforcement. No physical discipline is permitted. In the event of disruptive behavior, the teachers will assess the causes of the behavior so that appropriate measures can be taken. Discipline is tailored to the individual needs of the child. Role modeling and shadowing are often used by teachers to teach appropriate behaviors, and we will occasionally move a child to a more developmentally appropriate room, if needed. In older classrooms we use our Treat Other People Right Plan which is an agreement between the child, parents and teachers.
If circumstances warrant it a parent teacher conference would be called, and the teacher and family would work as a team to help the child. At this time we would determine what will best meet the needs of the child and classroom and determine if other professionals need to be consulted. We have a stated discipline policy in our Parent Handbook and adhere to it for the best interests of all children enrolled at the school.
How does your Internet viewing of the classrooms work?
ParentWatch provides the enrollment, technical support and the encryption of our secure Internet viewing system. Two cameras are mounted in most rooms, enabling the viewer to view the classroom from two different angles. This free service is live-action, so you’re seeing what the child is doing while they are doing it.
The privilege of viewing Bluebonnet classrooms over the Internet is limited only to those people approved by the enrolling parent. As many as six accounts per child may be set up, enabling parents, people at work, grandparents, and out of state relatives to all view the child’s classroom independently.
To get onto the system, a parent of an enrolled child first signs up with ParentWatch by going to www.parentwatch.com. ParentWatch then e-mails Bluebonnet, confirming this is a valid request, and we respond by telling ParentWatch to which classrooms the family needs access.
What is your tuition?

How does your wait list work?
It is often difficult for Bluebonnet to know just when your child will be tapped for admission from our wait list. Our wait list is first come/ first serve. Parents with children already in the school do have first priority on the wait list. Often openings occur when current families move from the community or change employment. Because our parents typically give notice at the beginning of their child’s last month, we usually know at the beginning of a month if there will be a spot the following month. At best, this allows us about a month to fill a spot. This is also the reason that most openings occur at the first of the month, rather in the middle of the month.
We have an August to May school year in most rooms. Generally parents let us know if they will be returning for the following school year in May. At this time we will contact people on our wait list regarding positions in May. We also often have a smaller move in January/February.
When you are called to fill an opening in the school and you decline, we must move to the next family on the list; however you will still maintain your spot on the wait list and will be contacted when the next opening close to the date you have requested comes available. We cannot guarantee you will have a spot on the exact date you have requested.
If you would like to place your child on the Bluebonnet wait list, simply click here to download this form and mail it to us with a $25 application fee.

If I am interested in enrolling, what is the next step?
The first step is to call the school to set up a time to visit the school. The school has certain hours on certain days of the week for appointments, so please call in advance. If you are unable to make your appointment, please call to reschedule. There is quite possibly someone waiting for a cancellation for this time. When you come to visit, you will see our beautiful equipped classrooms and campus, view the curriculum, and meet our excellent, highly qualified staff. At this time we will give you information on the tuition and fees, as well as more detailed information about the school. Applications are accepted on an on-going basis. Admission priority is given to families with siblings already enrolled. A wait list is maintained for future openings.
Applications for enrollment can be downloaded by clicking on the Application bar on this website.
When should my child arrive at school?
Even though we are open in the mornings at 6:30 for the convenience of working families, the majority of the children arrive between 8 and 8:30. Circle time provides your child with a large part of your child’s academic learning and discusses and sets the tone and expectations for the rest of the day’s activities.
Bluebonnet offers a rich curriculum, including Spanish and music classes. There are also exciting outdoor activities on our playgrounds and waterpark. In order to make certain your child does not miss these important parts of the day, check with your child’s schedule posted in the hallway outside the classroom.
